What is Applied Behavior Analysis?

Applied Behavior Analysis, or ABA, is an evidence-based approach that helps individuals build meaningful skills by understanding how behavior works in real-life settings. ABA therapy can support communication, social interaction, daily routines, independence, and positive behavior development.

At its best, ABA is individualized, compassionate, and family-centered. The goal is not to change who a child is, but to help each child develop skills that make everyday life more manageable, meaningful, and connected.

Getting Started with ABA Therapy in Georgia

1. Confirm eligibility and documentation

Families typically begin with a documented autism spectrum disorder diagnosis and a recommendation for services from an appropriate licensed professional.

2. Complete intake and insurance review

Submit the intake form so the provider can learn about your child’s needs, review insurance or Medicaid information, and discuss possible next steps.

3. Begin assessment and treatment planning

A qualified clinician reviews your child’s strengths and needs, develops goals, and creates an individualized plan before ongoing therapy begins.
